That was the moment that changed everything for me.
I stood there thinking, “Why can’t I find a good pastel de nata in London?”
Being born and bred in Portugal, the Portuguese culture remains very close to my heart.
That includes having pastel de nata in my DNA. And that’s what inspired me to start up Maria Nata.
I figured I couldn’t be the only person with a Portuguese background – or just a love of Portugal – asking the same question, “Where are the pastel de nata in London - (or where ever else in the UK you’re based) - that taste like they do in Portugal?”
I was right.
When we participated in London’s 2018 Nata Festival, the feedback was overwhelming. Hundreds of you told us how much you love Portugal and how keen you are to be involved with any Portuguese-inspired events and initiatives.
Maria Nata was born, not to produce imitation pastel de nata in London, but to do much, much better than that.
